Conducted by the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG), the exam evaluates fundamental theoretical knowledge and serves as the first milestone towards achieving the prestigious EBCOG qualification.
Candidates must hold a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and be registered with the Medical Council or relevant regulatory authority in their home country. Candidates are generally expected to have completed at least three years of recognised postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before appearing for the EFOG-EBCOG Part 1 examination.

The EFOG-EBCOG Part 1 examination is a Knowledge Based Assessment (KBA) designed to evaluate a candidate’s theoretical knowledge in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Conducted as a computer-based online examination, it consists of two papers, with one paper focusing on Obstetrics and the other on Gynaecology. Each paper is 3 hours in duration and includes a combination of Single Best Answer (SBA), Extended Matching Questions (EMQs), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Candidates must pass both papers individually to successfully complete the Part 1 examination.
Exam Date: 29 August 2026 (Online -Remotely & Virtually Invigilated Examination – RIVE)
Duration: Two papers (3 hours each)
