EFOG-EBCOG Exam Structure

This prestigious European fellowship assessment is conducted as a two-part examination. It is organised by the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG), to evaluate the expertise and clinical acumen of obstetrician and gynaecologists who wish to secure a qualification recognised across Europe and beyond.

EBCOG Part 1 – The first part exam is a Knowledge-Based Assessment with much focus on the candidate’s knowledge in core scientific and clinical principles.

• Mode of examination: Computer-based test
• Number of papers: Two papers
• Question type: MCQs and essay-type
• Core areas: Theoretical knowledge in OBG
• Exam duration: 3 hours for each part

EFOG Part 2 – The second level of examination is an assessment of clinical skills that practically assesses the application, decision-making, and communication abilities of candidates in various clinical scenarios.

• Mode of examination: Objective structured clinical exam (OSCE)
• Number of stations:10
• Reading time: 2 minutes
• Core areas: Clinical and communication skills

Passing the EFOG Part 1 exam is an essential requirement to attempt the EFOG Part 2 OSCE.
