Syllabus of the EFOG EBCOG Exam

The EFOG EBCOG is for doctors who have undergone training in accordance with their national training program. In addition, they should also be qualified specialists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Moreover, the duration of similar training programmes may vary in different countries within Europe. Besides, it is recommended that candidates consult the EBCOG website and download the new EBCOG curriculum (2018) for Basic Training (PACT – approved by UEMS as European Training Requirements). This will greatly help to further get familiar with the contents of the examination paper.

It would be ideal if the candidates possess a wide and up to date knowledge of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

EBCOG does not recommend any specific textbooks for the examination. Besides, a lot of material is available in print and electronic format for study.

In addition, candidates should be aware of evidence-based international guidelines in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

In order to further prepare for the EFOG EBCOG Part 1 examination, candidates may consult internationally recommended textbooks.

Second one for the OSCE Examination (Part 2)

During these courses, various types of KBA questions and OSCE stations are practiced in the examination arena.

Guidance For the Examination

Regulations Of Part 1 (KBA)

Part 1 of the examination has two computer-based papers. Moreover, candidates will take them online in the examination room.

Prior To Exam

Candidates will receive a test exam about a week before the date of the examination. In addition, all registered candidates are supposed to go to the website to try this “test-exam” before the real exam. Moreover, all necessary instructions will be e-mailed to the candidates.

Candidates will be provided a link to a demonstrator model. This will further give the candidate a feel of the exam. In addition, this helps to verify whether their computer is compatible with the examination requirements. Moreover, tablets are not allowed during the exam. Lastly, the candidates will get to learn how to start the examination, submit answers and exit the examination paper.

This is a chance for them to get familiar with the three types of questions being asked in the papers: MCQs, EMQs and SBAs. Lastly, the exam timetable will be uploaded onto the EBCOG website four weeks before the examination.
