The exam overview

The EFOG-EBCOG exam consists of two parts. EFOG-EBCOG Part 1 is a knowledge-based assessment (KBA), and Part 2 is an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). Candidates must first pass Part 1 to be eligible for Part 2.

EFOG-EBCOG Part 1 exam format

• Number of papers: Two (obstetrics and gynaecology)
• Exam pattern: Extended Matching Questions (EMQs), Single Best Answer Questions (SBAs), and Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)
• Exam duration: 6 hours (3 hours for each paper)

EFOG-EBCOG Part 2 OSCE format

• Exam mode: Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)
• Number of stations and tasks: Typically 10
• Types of stations: Technical skills, clinical scenarios, communication skills, and article evaluation stations
• Assessment focus: Technical competence, clinical judgement, communication skills, and critical thinking
• Exam duration: 10 minutes per station
